Leave enough room

Especially on s-curves, the coupler needs to have enough room of movement to stay properly connected to the other coupler. This is not be as much of an issue without the electrical connection.

Black technic 1/2 pins

Technic pins in 1/2 length are common in blue and grey. Lego does not sell them in black sadly. Blue or grey pins don't look good in this exposed position most times. Luckily there are other stores that sell them in black. I'm not saying who, nor linking them, but there are some famous non-Lego stores out there that do.
